WiFi Availability and Provider
Thai AirAsia offers in-flight WiFi on a portion of its fleet, primarily on Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. However, it is important to note that not all Thai AirAsia flights are equipped with connectivity. The service is known as AirAsia WiFi. While SeatWiFi is currently confirming Thai AirAsia's primary WiFi provider for 2026, the service has historically been powered by ROKKI, utilizing Inmarsat's high-speed Ka-band platform, GX Aviation.
Expected Performance and Use
The performance of Thai AirAsia's in-flight WiFi can vary depending on the specific aircraft and current usage. Speeds are generally suitable for essential communication such as instant messaging, light social media updates, and basic web browsing. While some past upgrades aimed for individual passenger speeds around 2Mbps, enabling some video streaming, the service often experiences throttling after a certain data usage, such as 200MB, reducing speeds to around 128kbps. Reliable video calls are typically not supported due to the inherent latency of high-orbit satellite connections.
