SeatWiFi Chrome Extension
Last updated: June 15, 2026
SeatWiFi is a Chrome extension that displays WiFi provider badges (Starlink, Viasat, Gogo, etc.) on Google Flights search results. We are committed to transparency: the extension collects the minimum data necessary to function and nothing more.
The extension reads flight numbers (e.g., UA1234, AA100) from the Google Flights page DOM. These flight numbers are sent to the SeatWiFi API (seatwifi.com/api/v1/flights/:flight_number) to look up WiFi provider information.
API responses are cached locally on your device using chrome.storage.local with a 24-hour expiry. This data never leaves your browser and is automatically cleared after expiry.
The extension communicates only with the SeatWiFi API (seatwifi.com). No data is sent to any other third-party service, analytics, or tracking tool. The sections above describe the Chrome extension; the website's analytics are covered separately below.
The seatwifi.com website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — which pages are visited, searches performed, and features used — so we can improve the site. It runs in a privacy-protective mode:
Required to read flight numbers from the Google Flights page and inject WiFi provider badges into the search results.
Used to cache API responses locally so repeat lookups are instant and reduce API calls.
Cached data is stored locally on your device and automatically expires after 24 hours. The SeatWiFi API does not log or store the flight number queries made by the extension.
If you have questions about this privacy policy, please reach out via the feedback page or open an issue on our GitHub repository.
The SeatWiFi extension reads flight numbers from Google Flights, looks up WiFi data from our API, and caches results locally. No personal data, no third parties. The website uses cookieless, privacy-protective Google Analytics for aggregate usage only.
