However, other onboard Wi-Fi services are available. Qatar Airways is in the process of rolling out Starlink, a high-speed, low-latency satellite internet service, across its fleet. The airline has completed the installation of Starlink on its entire Boeing 777 fleet. The installation of Starlink on its Airbus A350 aircraft is currently underway, with completion expected within the next year. The Boeing 787 fleet, which includes the 787-9, is scheduled to receive Starlink installations after the A350s. Given that the full Starlink retrofit for the Boeing 787 fleet is still in progress, it cannot be confirmed that flight QR982, operated by a Boeing 787-9 today (December 9, 2025), will be equipped with Starlink. However, general on-board Wi-Fi is available on all Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 aircraft. If the aircraft is not equipped with Starlink, passengers can still purchase onboard Wi-Fi access.
