BEST CRUISE LINE FOR WIFI
Ranked by what actually matters: who gives you WiFi without nickel-and-diming. Tier 1 = free for every guest. Tier 2 = free if you book the standard inclusive fare. Tier 3 = sorted by cheapest plan available.
The Methodology
We don't rank by marketing speed claims (everyone advertises "up to"). We rank by what passengers actually pay. Free for everyone wins, free-in-bundle is second, paid-only is third — sorted by cheapest tier within each band.

Which cruise line has the best WiFi?
For raw value, Viking and Seabourn — both include unlimited Starlink-grade WiFi for every guest. For pure speed, Seabourn and Celebrity Edge-class ships consistently report 100+ Mbps typical on Starlink. For cheapest-when-paid, MSC Browse at ~$12/day is the lowest entry price.
Is Viking WiFi really free?
Yes. Free WiFi is part of the Viking inclusive fare on every ocean and river ship. Starlink was rolled out across the ocean fleet in 2023–2024.
Is luxury cruise WiFi worth the premium?
If WiFi is critical, yes. Seabourn, Regent, and Silversea include unlimited streaming-grade WiFi in the fare. On a 14-night sailing, that's ~$420 of WiFi value baked in compared to a mass-market line charging $30/day.
Which mainstream line has the cheapest WiFi?
MSC Cruises is the cheapest at the entry level — its Browse package starts around $11.99/day. NCL's Free At Sea / More At Sea bundle is the cheapest way to get WiFi included on a mainstream line.
Has Royal Caribbean fixed VOOM?
Yes. With Starlink layered on top of SES O3b mPOWER, VOOM is significantly faster and more reliable than it was pre-2023. Typical speeds are 50–80 Mbps with peaks above 200 Mbps.
Does cruise WiFi work in Alaska / fjords?
Starlink LEO works well in Alaska and most fjords because the satellites are overhead. Old geostationary systems struggled with high-latitude routes; Starlink does not.
