Complimentary WiFi for All Passengers
As of July 3, 2026, Shanghai Airlines, in conjunction with China Eastern Airlines, provides complimentary Wi-Fi access to all passengers on its wide-body aircraft. This policy applies universally across all cabin classes, including First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy, and is available on all wide-body routes, regardless of flight duration or region.
Understanding Free Service Tiers
Passengers in premium cabins are granted access to a high-speed connectivity package at no charge. For those in Premium Economy and Economy Class, a standard connectivity package is provided free of charge. This standard service is designed for essential online activities.
Limitations of the Free Service
The complimentary standard Wi-Fi service supports basic functions such as sending text messages and photos via popular messaging apps like WeChat, LINE, Messenger, iMessage, and WhatsApp, as well as general web browsing and email. However, it explicitly does not support data-intensive activities like video streaming, video calls, or downloading large files. Furthermore, users should be aware that many international websites and social media platforms may be inaccessible due to China's internet restrictions.
