AIRLINE: Etihad Airways
AIRCRAFT: Airbus A350-1000 or Boeing 787 Dreamliner
STARLINK: Viasat (high-speed satellite internet)
Etihad Airways operates flight EY800, which flies daily between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Tokyo (NRT). This is a long-haul route, typically serviced by Etihad's wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350-1000 or Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which form the backbone of their medium to long-haul fleet. The A350-1000, for example, has a seating capacity of up to 369 passengers, which aligns with the reported 371 seats for EY800.
Etihad Airways provides "Etihad Wi-Fly" internet connectivity on all its wide-body aircraft. The airline's newer Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet and its new Airbus A350 fleet, introduced from April 2025, are factory-installed with Viasat's high-speed connectivity system. This Viasat-powered internet enables guests to stream content, use social media, browse, and game, in addition to live television throughout the cabin.
Etihad offers two primary Wi-Fi packages: "Chat" and "Surf". The "Chat" package allows passengers to use popular messaging applications and is complimentary for Etihad Guest members. The "Surf" package provides unlimited data for the entire duration of the flight and is available for a flat fee. First Class passengers and Etihad Guest Platinum members receive complimentary access to the "Surf" package.
While Etihad Airways is exploring partnerships for future high-speed internet solutions, including SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet services, and aims to offer 100 Mbps Wi-Fi across its entire fleet within two to three years, Starlink is not currently listed as an active provider on Etihad's operational fleet as of December 2025. The current high-speed satellite internet service on its wide-body aircraft is primarily provided by Viasat.
