Details
AIRLINE: Air France AIRCRAFT: Boeing 777-300ER (B77W) STARLINK: UNCERTAIN (Air France is progressively rolling out Starlink, with other providers like Gogo and Panasonic Avionics also in use) Air France is in the process of revolutionizing its onboard Wi-Fi service, progressively rolling out ultra-high-speed connectivity powered by Starlink from 2025 onwards. This new Starlink service is planned to be free for Flying Blue members across all travel cabins. Air France aims to equip 30% of its fleet with Starlink by the end of 2025 and the entire fleet by the end of 2026. While an Airbus A350 was equipped with this technology in September 2025, marking its introduction on the long-haul network, and there are indications that Boeing 777s are also part of this rollout, its availability on a specific flight like AF83 today is not guaranteed due to the progressive nature of the implementation. During this transition period, aircraft not yet equipped with Starlink continue to offer the "Air France Connect" service. This includes a free "Message Pass" for sending and receiving text messages via popular apps. For more extensive internet use, passengers can purchase "Surf Pass" for browsing and email, or "Stream Pass" for high-speed streaming, with typical providers being Gogo and Panasonic Avionics. Therefore, while high-speed internet for streaming might be available via a paid "Stream Pass" if the aircraft has the older system, the presence of the new, free Starlink service on flight AF83 today is uncertain.
