Ethiopian Airlines WiFi Providers
Ethiopian Airlines offers its in-flight WiFi service, known as ShebaSkyConnect, on a selection of its modern aircraft. Passengers can typically find this service on the airline's Airbus A350, Boeing 777, and most Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The connectivity is powered by a combination of providers, including Thales Avionics Inc, SITA FOR AIRCRAFT, and Collins Aerospace. For its upcoming Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, Ethiopian Airlines is set to integrate advanced, high-speed inflight broadband through Inmarsat's (now Viasat) GX Aviation service, selected via the Airbus Airspace Link HBCplus program.
Expected WiFi Speed & Performance
ShebaSkyConnect utilizes Ka-band broadband satellite technology to deliver internet access above the clouds. While speeds can fluctuate based on factors like aircraft, flight route, and network congestion, a download speed of 7.38 megabits per second has been observed. This performance is generally sufficient for common online activities such as browsing the web, checking emails, engaging on social media, and even streaming medium-quality videos. Ethiopian Airlines has also upgraded its onboard Wi-Fi bandwidth to provide a faster and more reliable internet experience.
