Connectivity on Airbus A220 Fleet
Croatia Airlines offers high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi exclusively on its new Airbus A220 aircraft. The airline is actively modernizing its fleet, with plans to replace older planes with new Airbus A220s by 2027. Passengers flying on other aircraft types will not have access to Wi-Fi.
The Wi-Fi service on these A220s is powered by Panasonic Avionics, utilizing their Ku-band satellite connectivity system. This marks the first time Croatia Airlines has introduced in-flight internet across its fleet.
Speed and Performance Expectations
The in-flight Wi-Fi on Croatia Airlines' A220 fleet is designed for general connectivity. Tests have shown download speeds typically ranging from 11 to 12 Mbps, with a ping around 731 ms. This performance is characteristic of satellite-based systems.
Passengers can expect to use the service for messaging, browsing social media, checking emails, and light streaming of short videos, such as YouTube in 480p or Spotify. However, due to the inherent latency of satellite connections, reliable video calls are generally not supported.
